When I was in school (so long ago we had to walk around the piles of dinosaur poo to get to school), I would never have plagarized for fear of upsetting my favorite teacher, Mrs. Stabnow. I liked and respected her way too much to do anything that she considered morally wrong. Plus, my mom would have grounded me for life.dmmgmfmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09872482306885344135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31402520.post-23697896346830711752009-05-06T18:04:00.000-04:002009-05-06T18:04:00.000-04:00I think that some students will not get the messag...I think that some students will not get the message, even after they themselves have been caught. I had my share of plagiarism cases even then, but I wonder if you've noticed an increase in the last few years?littleorangeguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12654738679277701610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31402520.post-2668307517067478592009-05-05T06:39:00.000-04:002009-05-05T06:39:00.000-04:00That's sad, just really sad. That's sad, just really sad.Jaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14057094040409159429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31402520.post-72427051112135736032009-05-04T21:29:00.000-04:002009-05-04T21:29:00.000-04:00I don't blame you for feeling discouraged. I got an email from a friend just a few hours ago about the same thing in one of her classes, and she was feeling worried about how she was going to handle the situation.Dog_geekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12797650391128520269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31402520.post-49502318508798022462009-05-04T21:17:00.000-04:002009-05-04T21:17:00.000-04:00I don't find it surprising. It's incredible that students would not realize how easy it is for plagiarism to be discovered with programs that will search a series of words.

I agree wholeheartedly with zero tolerance for cheating. It is not fair to the students who are working so hard and so honestly.NCmountainwomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00615765649828716560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31402520.post-56965039534661573422009-05-04T20:56:00.000-04:002009-05-04T20:56:00.000-04:00Honestly, I think it *is* surprising. As an elementary teacher, I teach my kids everytime we write ANYTHING that we get from reference material that it must be re-written in our own words. No ifs, ands, or buts. So, yea, I'm surprised!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31402520.post-17923817247739036722009-05-04T18:05:00.000-04:002009-05-04T18:05:00.000-04:00That's tough.
