VOTE!

Tomorrow is the big day. . .unless you live in a state that has early voting (I don't). . .or unless you voted by absentee ballot (lucky).

Why vote?

Why vote?

Why vote?

Why vote?

Because all around the world there are people who, when first given the opportunity to vote, take that opportunity seriously.

the lines for voting in South Africa during first nationwide vote

I will be at my precinct voting--as I have for 42 years--in every election, both primary and general! I have voted for losers and I have voted for winners. I much prefer the latter, but the former has never dissuaded me from voting.

I voted early, as did more than 40% of the registered voters in NC. The political ads have been horrendous in our "swing" state.

I have never missed an election since I became eligible to vote. My dear grandmother fought hard for me to have that right and I don't intend to let her down.

Oh, it's been disgusting and I can't wait for it to end.

Oh, I voted early last week and on the floor in line for two hours. My husband and daughter waited three hours on Saturday.

We were happy to vote.

I'm cynical. If citizens relied on media to make choices, NO ONE SHOULD VOTE!

Sorry, but I've had enough.

I'm shut up now.

:o)

See, I got all upset. Meant to say,

"Ok, I'll shut up now."

LOL!

I voted the second day of early voting here, and was the only one in the precinct at the time. That was over a month ago. What a privilege and honor to cast your vote.

I'll be going to vote around 9:30 this morning (with the vast majority of my office in Dallas it's no problem). I know in Virginia you can't wear any political buttons or shirts to vote. I wish I knew if we could in Maryland. I think I'll wear my Cats for Obama button anyway!!

I went to vote at 11:15, and I was out by 11:20. I loved that! How wonderful to be a part of our process!

We arrived with ipods in hand thinking we would be in a long line...15 minutes and we were on our way to breakfast...not hotdogs or applepie but pancakes and sunnysideup!! Great idea for today's post! :)

Hi All--it is so great to hear from all of you who are so enthusiastic about this election.
And great that you have voted.
I too have voted--just went right in, no line--after 2 p.m. I was Number 560 in a precinct that NEVER gets to that high a number--and there were 6 hours left to vote after I was there.

The last picture, of the long lines in South Africa, reminds that most of us do not have anything to complain about when voting. Thankfully, we were able to get in and out pretty quickly too. However, I would have waited for hours, if necessary. I am grateful to live in a country where we can vote and let our voices be heard. I have no tolerance for those who will not or do not vote yet seem to find the time to complain and grumble when things do not go well. My mantra is – no vote, no voice. People around here get pretty tired of me saying that, but I feel so strongly about the privilege of voting!
