But then things began to change--air conditioning was invented, and people began to stay inside. Then porches disappeared. At least we still have lemondade. And at least we can still sit a spell.
For the next several evenings, I will not be reading blogs. I will not be writing blogs. I will be sitting a spell and enjoying a visit from our daughter. She is here briefly and then she goes back to London.
So, sit a spell. I will be back shortly. . .

I'm happy for you that your daughter is visiting from London. She looks happy, too, in this photo. I hope you have a good time together!
Enjoy your visit with your lovely daughter!
How wonderful and enjoy your time with your daughter! We will still be here when you can return!
Lucky you! Have a great visit!

I still have a house with a porch (known here as a verandah. we might use porch if it is small, a stoop). It has a swing seat on it and a small table and two chairs as well as flower pots. I with my dog sit out when the biting insect allow. Also, no AC it is not worth it for the couple of unbearbly hot days a year we get. I bet your daughter is starting to call a porch a verandah! She must be picking up the Queen's English.LOL
Enjoy your visit! Drink lots of lemonade! Mmmmm!
Well, you sit a spell and visit. Give Kristen a hug for Lois and me. You can pass on family news as well, if you haven't already. Is she bringing you some of England's extra rain?
Give my love to Kristen....ENJOY!!
Savor your minutes with her, Donna. She's a beautiful young woman. I understand what it's like to be away from our daughters.
What a sweetheart! You are so blessed,Donna. Oh I'd love to listen in - I know the conversations are interesting and animated.
P.S. We have a small front porch on our moderate-sized home. Sidewalks run through the neighborhood and people do stop and visit. Trouble is that in the winter - the porch isn't very inviting. So I get in my car which I have dubbed 'my front porch' and park in places where I can watch people, weather and dogs. :0)
I hope you had a great time with Kristen!!
Good porches make good neighbors. And sidewalks bring them by.
I'm with you; summer nights out front.
What a nice blog!
