Setting Sail

Quick note to my faithful readers--(the unfaithful ones . . .well, just skip this note).

We are ready to set sail, from Chalon sur Saone. We go downriver on the Saone to the confluence with the Rhone, then continue to Nice.

Along the way, we will see--among other smaller towns--Lyon and Avignon.

OK--everyone now fix in your minds "Sur le pont D'Avignon". . .ah, high school French.

Oh how wonderful. A cruise down to the South of France. I spent two weeks in a little village 15 miles from Avignon (St. Victor La Coste) doing a volunteer restoration project. Are you going to Arles? I'd also suggest Uzes--wonderful Saturday market that seems to run through the entire town.

And, I know it is considered a peasant wine, but in my mind you can't beat a good hearty Cotes du Rhone.

Have fun!!!
